632 Probate records, 1813-1886.
Three volumes.
These are
probate records from
Volume 1 consists of statements of administrators of estates and guardians of minor children. The earliest record is dated 14 December 1813, regarding the estate of William Bandford, and the last is dated February 1838, concerning the estate of Fendall Crump. There is an alphabetical index in the front of the volume. Among the surnames in the index are Brickey, Bolduc, Chadbourne, Casey, Desloge, Detchmendy, Duclos, Perry, Valley, and Wallen. Moses Austin was concerned with several cases, and others included orders by the Court to sell slaves as part of settlements. There is a notation following the index: “Copied from Old A Book in 1934. By (Project F4-59).”
Volume 2 also contains records of settlements of estates, as well as copies of some wills. The entries begin on 1 February 1830, and continue through 8 August 1843. There is a partial index at the end of the volume. Among the individuals listed in the index are John Brickey, Andrew Goforth, Jesse McIlvaine, and William Smith.
Volume 3 contains last wills and testaments filed beginning 10 November 1845. The last record in the volume was filed on 10 December 1886. The volume contains an alphabetical index at the front of the book. Among the individuals who filed wills are Philip Bryan, Trussant[sic] Charboneau, Firmin Desloge, John Baptiste Duclos, Burris Higginbotham, James D. Relfe, and Elisha Wallen.
