Shelf List
R Bradford family.
647 Papers, 1722-1998.
Eight record storage boxes.
These are papers collected by Dr. Vance A. Bradford
while conducting genealogical research on the Bradford
family. Included are six boxes of
correspondence with and about descendants of Samuel Bradford of Snow Hill, Maryland, and
two boxes of papers from the Duncan homestead in
southern Phelps County, Missouri.
Section A: Genealogical Correspondence, 1970-1998 (93 folders and 2
binders).
This
section consists of correspondence with descendants of Samuel Bradford, and,
less frequently, documents concerning Bradford
ancestors. The filing is alphabetical by
correspondent or ancestor. A detailed
list of correspondents can be found on the separate “Folder List” for this
collection. Folder 93 contains copies of
the Bradford Compact Newsletter
(1996-1998). Filed after the folders are
two binders: “Clan McFarland” and “Clan McFarland – Bradford Cousins.”
Section B: Duncan Homestead Papers (68 folders).
These
papers were apparently collected by Annie Duncan Freeman, and were acquired by
Vance Bradford from her descendants.
They include miscellaneous correspondence, documents, photographs,
clippings, and related items concerning the Bradford, Duncan, Freeman, Jordan,
Taylor, Vance, and Weber families. When
accessioned by WHMC-Rolla they were stored in a large aluminum box, from which
they have been removed, arranged, and placed in 68 folders in two record
storage boxes and the oversize storage cabinet.
The arrangement is by person, family group, medium (photographs,
clippings, etc.), or topic. A detailed
list of folder titles and content summaries can be found on the separate
“Folder List” for this collection. A
complete collection of Dr. Bradford’s annual “Bradford Descendants” Newsletter
(Numbers 1-11, 1987-1997) has been filed on WHMC-Rolla’s reference shelf.
