This is a “Souvenir” card for Damon School in Wayne County, Missouri. Illustrated with a photograph of the teacher, Pola Myers, the souvenir includes the names of the students in grades one through four.
Damon School was in Township 29 of Wayne County. According to Rose Fulton Kramer’s history of Wayne County, the school served part of the territory covered by Lebanon School until about 1878. In 1923, the district became part of Wayne County Consolidated School District No. 1 at Patterson, and Damon School was closed. Pola Myers, the teacher for the session of 1906-1907, was a member of the Wayne County Teachers’ Association. His photographic portrait is attached to the front of the card. Myers had charge of forty-eight students in four grades. The students are named on the back of the program. Frequently occurring surnames include Henson, Darden, Melton, Doney, England, Wood, Pore, and Losh. The directors of District No. 4 were J. E. Hensen, Tom Fulton, S. M. Hood, D. J. Taylor, and R. J. Melton.
