710 Minute book, 1915-1922
One volume.
This is the “minute book” of the Wentworth Lodge of Daughters of Rebekah at Wentworth in Newton County, Missouri. It includes records of meetings conducted between 18 January 1915 and 16 January 1922.
Wentworth Lodge was a small chapter, with an active membership of no more than twenty. Throughout this period its activities were limited, due to its small size and, perhaps, the loss of its home, the Odd Fellows Hall in Wentworth, to fire on 12 February 1915. Subsequent projects included helping to furnish the new I.O.O.F. Hall, presentation of a quilt to a family whose house had burned down, and entertainments for local children.
At the beginning of this volume the chapter was known as Berwick Lodge, but early in 1915 the name was changed to Wentworth Lodge. During this period Sarah Little, Tillie Gill, Nora Lynn, Carrie Lawyer, Sallie Lawyer, Ethel Stinnette, and Elma Hornor served as “Noble Grands,” or presiding officers. An interesting note is that on two occasions J. W. Robb, a man, served as Secretary of the Lodge.
