715                  Booklets, 1953-1956.

                                    One folder.

These are “premium list” booklets for the “1st Annual Camden County 4-H Club and Open Livestock Show,” held on 8 August 1953, and the “Camden County 4-H Club and Open Livestock Show and Dairy Day” held on 25 August 1956 at the J Bar H Rodeo Arena in Camdenton, Missouri.

The first booklet describes the first annual livestock exhibition in 1953.  There were separate “4-H” and “open” competitive divisions in the categories of beef cattle (Herefords, Angus, and shorthorns), dairy cattle (Jerseys, Holsteins, and “all others”), sheep, and hogs (4-H) and swine (open).  There were also special 4-H categories for “showmanship” and “horsemanship.”  Also included in the booklet are the names of the officers of the Camden County Fair Association, “superintendents” of the various competitive divisions, and many advertisements for area businesses.

The second booklet, for 1956, has 36 pages and is similar to the first.  Again there were 4-H and open exhibitions in the departments of beef cattle, dairy cattle, sheep, and swine.  There was also a 4-H competition in “showmanship.”  The festivities for “Dairy Day” included a parade and a performance by the “Ozark Opra.”  A list of officers and directors and advertisements for area businesses fill out the remaining pages.
