This is a photocopy of genealogical records for southeastern Missouri compiled by Attie Zelpha Mitchell Shanks.  The records cover the “Upper Hog Creek” area of eastern Bollinger and western Cape Girardeau counties.  There is a partial index.

Attie Zelpha Mitchell Shanks began clipping newspaper notes and collecting verbal information for her scrapbooks around 1890, beginning a life-long hobby of genealogy.  Three copies of her notes were made after her death in 1969, and the photocopy in this collection was made from one of those copies.  The original notebook was nearly 390 pages in length.  The family members did not copy those pages which they felt would not be of interest, and the notebook in this collection ends at page 334.  The index, notes by Mrs. Odis Eaker, and a foreword by Attie Shanks may be seen on pages 1-5.
