These are financial records of a timber exploitation and lumber business in the Bootheel sec­tion of Missouri.  Franklin Johnson Cunningham managed the firm and its headquar­ters were at Caruthersville in Pemiscot County, Missouri.

 

Volume 1: Journal, 22 June 1898--1 April 1903; 250 pages.

This is a chronological listing of transactions, with an occasional explanation for a particular listing.  Page references are given to ledger entries.  The entry for 9 July 1900 noted that “The Moark Land & Timber Co. employed C. F. Bloker as bookkeeper for their firm at a salary of $50.00 per month, commencing on this day.”  Pages 450 through 457 of this volume give the financial records of the Caruthersville Lecture Course Asso­ciation for 1906-1907.

 

Volume 2: Ledger, 1899-1902.

In this volume transactions are listed under the name of the vendor or cus­tomer, preceded by an alphabetical index.

 

Volume 3: Cash Book, 16 January 1900--2 March 1903; 61 pages.

This volume lists debits and credits in chronological order, as incurred, with ac­counts balanced periodically.  Debtors and creditors are listed by name and type of goods or services bought or sold.

 

Volume 4: Daybook, 9 July 1900--17 September 1902; 151 pages.

This volume lists and describes transactions chronologically.  The end leaf reads, “Moark Land & Timber Co., F. J. Cunningham Mgr.”
