These are the records of Graniteview Missionary Baptist Church at Roselle in Madison County, Missouri.  Included are the church record book, containing a register of members and minutes of church meetings, 1948-1967, and “Uniform Associational Letters” sent annually to the Franklin Baptist Association, 1956-1966.

Graniteview Missionary Baptist Church, in the northwestern corner of Madison County, was organized on 19 October 1898 as New Life Church.  Some of the first members were former members of the Bethany United Baptist Church in Madison County.  New Life became Graniteview Church in 1899.  The congregation met in Downs School House before constructing the church building at Roselle in 1901, about five miles east of Ironton.  Through the years, the church has belonged to the Reynolds County and St. Francois associations.  Currently, it is a member of the Franklin Baptist Association, affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention.

Folder 1 contains copies of the church record book, including a register of members and minutes of meetings.  Minutes of both regular and special meetings are included, beginning on 30 March 1949 and continuing through 16 May 1966.  Regular business matters generally include maintenance of church property, election of officers, and appointments of representatives to the annual associations.  A few pages of financial data and lists of officers are at the end of the book.

Folder 2 contains annual reports to the Franklin Baptist Association, 1956-1967.  The reports include the names of church officers, statistical information on the congregation, reports on expenditures, and valuations of church property.  For the period covered by the reports, the congregation numbered 35-40 individuals.
