R White River Boosters League.
749 Booklets, 1934-1940.
One folder.
These are two booklets
promoting tourism in Taney and Stone counties in Missouri.
Entitled Come to Lake Taneycomo
and the White River Country: The Vacation Paradise of the Ozarks, each
contains many advertisements for hotels, resorts, cottages, camps, and other
tourist-related businesses, as well as a map of the area.
The White River
Boosters League and commercial associations from area communities published these
booklets to promote tourism around Lake
Taneycomo and the White River in the Ozarks. They contain useful information for visitors,
including maps, photographs and descriptions of tourist sites and facilities,
and many advertisements for accommodations and attractions. The first booklet contains twenty pages and
is undated, although a map of the Missouri
Pacific Railroad on the outside back cover appears to be dated 1934. The second booklet contains 28 pages and has
been dated 1940 through one of the advertisements.
