This collection includes a booklet, Monett, the Big “M” in Southwest Missouri, and the pro­gram for the “annual dinner” of the Monett Chamber of Commerce, held on 15 February 1960 at Monett in Barry County, Missouri.

 

Monett, the Big “M” in Southwest Missouri, is an eight-page booklet published by the Mon­ett Chamber of Commerce to promote economic development in the community.  Included are summaries of “Economic Expansion,” “Public Improvements,” the Chamber’s planned activities for 1960-1961, economic and social statistics, and employment and payroll data for Monett’s “production industries.”

 

It is probable that the booklet was distributed at the Chamber’s “annual dinner,” which was held at the Monett Park Casino on Monday evening, 15 February 1960.  The main speaker at the dinner was Dr. Arthur A. Smith, Vice President and Economist at the First National Bank in Dal­las, Texas.
