This is a flyer promoting the centennial celebration at Joplin in Jasper County, Missouri. The events occurred in June and July in 1973.
In 1973 Joplin, the largest city in Jasper County, Missouri, celebrated the centennial of its organization. Events included parades, pageants, concerts, contests, tournaments, shows, and a climactic centennial picnic and carnival on the Fourth of July. Many of the activities, such as the dedication of the Tri-State Mineral Museum, centered on Joplin's history as the hub of a major lead and zinc mining district.
