This is Aurora Missouri: Summit City of the Ozarks, a booklet published by the Aurora Community Chamber of Commerce to promote the economic development of Aurora in Lawrence County, Missouri.

This twelve-page booklet promotes the self-proclaimed “chief commercial center of Lawrence County” as a perfect location for industry, agriculture, and recreation.  Although undated, it includes economic statistics for 1923, indicating it was written the next year.  The agricultural pursuits of “dairying,” fruit-culture, and poultry raising are particularly recommended.

In the area of fruit-culture, the growing of strawberries, grapes, and apples are featured.  It is noted that “The Chamber of Commerce subsidized the strawberry growers, by paying $1.00 per thousand plants, on all plants set this spring, with the result that over 200 acres have been added to the already large acreage.”

Included are 25 photographs of area scenes by R. E. Hinchey.
