817 Booklet, 1967.
One folder.
This is the “Quasqui-Centennial Souvenir Book” published in 1967 by the Carthage Chamber of Commerce to celebrate the 125th anniversary of the founding of the seat of Jasper County, Missouri.
This 24-page booklet presents the history and accomplishments of Carthage since its founding in 1842. The first half of the booklet tells the history of the town from its establishment, through its destruction during the Civil War, to its current (1967) prosperity. The second half describes the community’s assets, including its “Utilities and Services,” Financial Institutions,” “Churches,” and “Newspapers,” with special sections devoted to “Memorial Hall,” “Carnegie Library,” and “McCune-Brooks Hospital.”
The text was compiled by Mrs. Bruce Robertson. Included are many historical and contemporary photographic illustrations.
