838 Consecration program, 1908.
One folder.
This is a program for the consecration of the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran School at Perryville in Perry County, Missouri, on 6 September 1908. Much of the
program is in German, although there is a page for “English services.”
Perry County, Missouri, experienced a substantial
immigration of Germans in the nineteenth century, including many Evangelicals
(Lutherans). This is a program from the
consecration of the Lutheran school at Perryville, the county seat, on 6 September 1908. Of the four
pages (a single folded sheet of paper), three are in German, including the
orders of service at the church (Deutscher
Gottesdienst in der Kirche) and at the school (Schulweih). The last page consists of a list of leaders
of the school’s sponsoring congregation (Beamte
der Gemeinde), the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church. One page is
devoted to “English Services at the School.”
Celebratory sermons were delivered by Pastor Fr. Klug of Farmington, Missouri (in German), and the Rev. H. A. Klein of Wittenberg, Missouri (in English).
The congregation and school exist today as Immanuel Lutheran Church and Immanuel Lutheran School in Perryville.
The congregation is an affiliate of the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod.
