These are booklets announcing the 1929 season and celebrating the 25th anniversary in 1948 of Camp Gravois, a Y.M.C.A. facility on Little Gravois Creek southeast of Versailles in Morgan County, Missouri.

The site of Camp Gravois was first used by “pioneer” Y.M.C.A. campers from Kansas City in 1923 under the leadership of G. W. Hovey.  The next year a permanent camp was established by E. B. Switzler and V. P. Wetz.  Over the years the facility was expanded and improved, until by the late 1940s it was serving well over 100 campers each summer.

The eight-page illustrated booklet for the 1929 season includes information about the camp’s location, facilities, operation, and schedule.  Transportation to Versailles from Kansas City was available on the Rock Island railroad.  Eight camping sessions for designated groups were scheduled for 1929.

In 1948 a 24-page booklet was published to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the camp.  Dedicated to founder V. P. Wetz, it includes many photographs, a map of the grounds, a brief history of the facility, a list of future improvements, letters of endorsement and recommendation, and testimonials of former campers.  Of particular interest are comprehensive every-name lists of previous directors, staff, camp committees, and campers from 1923 through 1947.
