These are minutes of the 67th annual session of the Shoal Creek Baptist Association, which met on 23-25 August 1938 with the First Baptist Church of Newtonia in Newton County, Missouri.  The Association was comprised of congregations in Newton and McDonald counties in southwestern Missouri.

The first meeting of the Shoal Creek Baptist Association was held in September 1871.  Aligned with the “Missionary Baptist” movement, by 1938 the Association had 33 member congregations, of which 32 were active.  The churches appear to have been located in Newton and McDonald counties, although some members, and perhaps one or two churches, were in Barry and Lawrence counties.  The moderator was G. T. Kelley of Neosho.  Many of the congregations were small and rural, but the Association also included churches in Neosho (two congregations), Anderson, Granby, Goodman, Newtonia, Noel, Pineville, Powell, Ritchey, Southwest City, and Stella.  The largest congregations were at Anderson (605 members), Neosho Northside (297), Neosho First (252), and Granby (248).  The Association’s member congregations counted 3234 members in 1938.

This 36-page booklet includes minutes of the sessions along with the Association’s covenant, constitution, rules of order, reports of committees and organizations, a list of deceased members, and statistical charts concerning the leadership, membership, and finances of the member congregations.
