These are pictorial directories (summer 1966, summer 1969, and fall 1981), a dedicatory program for a tapestry (7 April 1985), and a newsletter (16 June 1985) for First and Calvary Presbyterian Church at Springfield in Greene County, Missouri.

First and Calvary Presbyterian Church was formed in 1930 by the merger of First (1844) and Calvary (1849) Presbyterian churches, representing two of Springfield’s oldest congregations.

In 1966 the 2403-member congregation was an affiliate of the United Presbyterian Church and was located at 820 Cherry Street.  The pastor was Dr. William E. Everheart.  The 56-page directory published in the summer of that year includes photographic portraits of “Our Church Staff,” brief sections concerning “Our Program,” “Our History,” and “Our Denomination,” a pictorial directory of the membership, and an alphabetical directory of the membership, including addresses and telephone numbers.  All of the photographic portraits are black-and-white.

Another pictorial directory was published in the summer of 1969.  Dr. William E. Everheart remained as Senior Minister, assisted by the Rev. Curtis A. March, the Rev. John L. Kurtz, and the Rev. James E. Layman.  John C. Overbey was Director of Music.  The directory includes black-and-white photographic portraits and a list of members and their addresses.  Pages at the back of the booklet are devoted to “Symbols of Our Faith” and “Color Symbolism in the Church.”

The directory published in the fall of 1981 was designated the “Fiftieth Anniversary Pictorial Directory,” in honor of the merger of the First and Calvary congregations in 1930.  At that time the Pastor was Jack Hart and the Associate Pastor was Curtis March, assisted by Laura Fleetwood as Program Associate.  Included are black-and-white portraits and a membership directory.

There is a dedication program for a “Life of Christ” needlepoint tapestry donated by the Lockhart family in memory of Dan Forrest Lockhart (1952-1974).  The tapestry was made by Mary Smith of Austin, Texas.  The tapestry was dedicated on Easter Sunday, 7 April 1985.

There is also a copy of First and Calvary Review, the congregation’s newsletter (Vol. 48, No. 24, 16 June 1985).   It includes the service of worship for that week, a calendar of events, and news items.
