This booklet provides information concerning the
1912-1913 school year for the Conway Public Schools at Conway in Laclede County, Missouri. The principal
was Lonnie S. Haymes.
Conway is a small community in southwestern Laclede County, Missouri. The public
schools there in 1912-1913 had a six-member Board of Education and a faculty of
five. Included were a three-year high
school course and a 350-volume library.
School opened on 2 September 1912 and closed with commencement exercises on 18 April 1913.
This 20-page booklet describes Conway as a town with “no saloons” and an ideal place to
acquire an education free from “the distracting influences of the larger
cities.” Pupils were forbidden to “use
chewing-gum, cigarettes or tobacco in any form.” Upon completion of the course of study, “one
year in a preparatory school will admit the student to Drury and other
colleges.”
