These are an “Official Guide Book” (1923) and an “Official Hand Book” (1925) of the fourth and sixth annual fairs presented by the students of Central High School “with Aid from the Faculty” at Cape Girardeau in Cape Girardeau County, Missouri.  The “follies” were held on the evenings of 20 April 1923 and 23 April 1925.

These “County Fairs,” as styled on the covers of the booklets, consisted of an evening of entertainment presented by the students at Central High School.  Included were a minstrel show, singing and dancing, and refreshments.  The “hand book” for 1923 was dedicated to James A. Kinder, while that for 1925 was dedicated to Superintendent of Schools J. A. Whiteford.  Along with humorous descriptions of the acts, the booklets include many advertisements for local businesses.
