This is a centennial history booklet published in 1970 for Southwest City in McDonald County, Missouri.  It includes a general historical narrative, historical photographs, and topical sections concerning schools, churches, organizations, government, and businesses.

Southwest City, as its name implies, is located in the far southwestern corner of Missouri, near the tri-state boundary of Missouri, Arkansas, and Oklahoma.  An original settlement along Honey Creek was platted and organized as Southwest City in 1870.  The “Southwest City at 100” Centennial Committee published this 80-page historical booklet in 1970 to celebrate the town’s hundredth anniversary.  Frank Evans was chairman of the historical book committee.

This soft-cover booklet includes a general historical narrative, followed by topical accounts concerning banks, mail service, telephones, railroads, schools, churches, medical services, newspapers, municipal government, lodges and organizations, and veterans.  A section of historical photographs is followed by photographs and brief descriptions of current local businesses.
