This is a booklet produced for the centennial celebration of Verona in Lawrence County, Missouri, on 2-4 August 1968.  Included are brief illustrated histories of the town of Verona and its businesses, schools, churches, and government.

The Historical Committee of the Verona Centennial published this 104-page booklet to accompany the celebration of the town’s centennial on 2-4 August 1968.  Mrs. Coleman Johnson served as chairperson of the committee and Mrs. Cora Ash chaired the booklet committee.  Included in this volume are an introduction with a brief general history of the town, a “business directory” that is chronological from 1876, and sections concerning business places, the “first” Sunday school (1848), churches, city government, water mills, newspapers (with many extracts of interesting articles), the post office, the railroads, schools, societies and clubs, and a transcription of the 1870 census of Spring River Township.  There are also a program for the centennial festivities on 2-4 August 1968 (broadcast commentator Paul Harvey and “fisherman’s friend” Harold Ensley were the headliners), and an early plat map of the town.  There are photographic illustrations, and many advertisements for area businesses.
