One folder.
This is a program booklet for the Golden Valley Horse
Show, held on 11-12 September 1945 at Clinton in Henry County, Missouri. The Clinton Chamber of Commerce sponsored the
event, which was held at Artesian Park Stadium.
Clinton and Henry County are located in what local boosters like to call “The
Golden Valley” of Missouri. This 36-page
booklet includes the program and other information concerning the “horse show
and pulling contest” sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce in the fall of
1945. The horse pulling contest was held
on Tuesday evening, 11 September, with a first prize of $50 for the winner. The horse show was held on Wednesday evening,
12 September, with competition in nine classes, including “fine harness,”
“three-gaited non-professional,” “three-gaited,” “jr. walking,” “jr.
five-gaited,” “five-gaited ladies,” “plantation walking horse,” “three-gaited
combination,” and “five-gaited stake.”
The show featured a special appearance by Easter
Serenade, bred in Henry County and the reigning “world’s champion five gaited saddle
mare.” Easter Serenade was owned by Temple Stephens of Moberly, Missouri.
