This hard-bound booklet lists military veterans, mostly from the Second World War, from Cuba in Crawford County, Missouri.  Included are six “Gold Star Boys.”  Entries include photographic portraits, dates and branches of service, ranks, domestic and overseas postings, awards, and current occupations.

Cuba Memorial Post No. 522 of the American Legion published this 52-page booklet to honor military veterans from Cuba and the surrounding area.  Some veterans of the Spanish-American War and World War I are included, but most are from World War II and its immediate aftermath.  Two women are listed.  Six “Gold Star Boys” who lost their lives in the Second World War (one on the U.S.S. Arizona at Pearl Harbor) are honored with separate pages at the beginning of the book, while the others are placed four on a page.  A typical entry includes a photographic portrait, dates of service, branch, training sites, dates of embarkation and return, theatres of service, rank, awards, current address, and occupation.  The latest date entered is for October 1947.  In addition to the six “Gold Star Boys” there are 93 individual entries, including 13 with no photographs and ten in a special section for Spanish-American and First World War veterans.

At the back of the booklet there are a brief history of Cuba, a biography of Dr. J. T. DeLeo (who served in both World Wars), four pages of snapshots of local buildings and businesses, and 11 pages of advertisements for local businesses.
