These are two booklets containing the by-laws adopted in 1917 and 1920 by Joplin Lodge No. 287 of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows.  The lodge was located at Joplin in Jasper County, Missouri.

Both booklets are 16 pages in length and contain similar information.  Pages 1 through 6 are devoted to a preface and general information about the Order.  Pages 7-16 are devoted to the by-laws, which note that the Joplin Lodge was instituted on 2 November 1872 and met each Wednesday evening.  There are articles devoted to fees, dues ($1.50 per quarter), benefits, attendance on the sick, salaries (the secretary was paid $3.50 per meeting), non-payment of dues, miscellaneous rules (smoking was prohibited in the lodge rooms), and the Order of Business.

In 1917 the by-laws committee was composed of C. H. Race, A. F. Blinzler, and Byron Coon, while the Grand Warden was Harry A. Collins.  H. H. Wiggins, S. M. Brown, J. R. Runner, F. B. Serage, and W. W. English comprised the committee for the by-laws adopted on 17 December 1920, at which time the Grand Warden was D. B. Reist.
