R Farnsworth, Bills & Company.
973 Map, ca. 1905.
One folder.
This is a two-sided map showing land parcels in Reynolds County, Missouri, available through Farnsworth, Bills & Company of
Chicago, Illinois. On one side
is a map of Missouri with Reynolds County highlighted, and on the other is a plat of 30,000
acres north and west of Ellington indicating the available parcels.
How Farnsworth, Bills & Company of 125 Monroe Street in Chicago, Illinois, came into possession of this land is not known, but
probably it was acquired from timber companies after the area had been logged
over early in the twentieth century. The
“Plat of 30,000 acres land in Reynolds County, Mo.” includes Townships 30 and 31 North, Range 1 East,
and Ranges 1 and 2 West, an area about 23 miles square located north and west
of the county seat at Ellington. Forty
and eighty acre tracts are located and numbered, with the highest number being
1343. In total the firm claimed to have
“165,000 acres of Fruit, Farm and Timber Lands for Sale” in Reynolds County.
Although this item is undated, the map of Missouri has a copyright date of 1905.
