These are proceedings of the annual sessions of this organization of General Baptist con­gre­ga­tions in southeastern Missouri.  Also included are Old Liberty Association proceed­ings (1913), Liberty Association proceedings (1916), and a reprinted sermon of Benoni Stinson (1858).

 

The Galilee Association of General Baptists was organized in 1916 by dividing the Liberty Association.  It consists of General Baptist congregations, mostly in the rural areas of Bollinger, Butler, Cape Girardeau, Scott, Stoddard, and Wayne counties in southeastern Mis­souri.

 

Each year the Galilee Association meets in a general session at one of the member churches.  These volumes are the published proceedings of those sessions.  They include the minutes of the administrative meetings, as well as membership and financial statistics, lists of delegates, minis­ters, and congregational clerks, and brief lists of deceased members.

 

The first two volumes are proceedings of the Old Liberty Association (1913), and the Lib­erty Association (1916), from which the Galilee Association was formed.  Proceedings for the Galilee Association's second annual session (1918) are missing.  At the end of the collec­tion has been ap­pended “A Sermon on the New Birth, Delivered at Meeting of Ohio Associa­tion of Gen­eral Bap­tists in Gallatin County, Illinois, November, 1858, by Elder Benoni Stin­son”  (reprinted 1976).
