This is “Samuel Aaron Harrison, 1842-1940; His Ancestors and Descendants,” by S[amuel] Claude Null.  Null was a grandson of Samuel Aaron Harrison.  It is an account of the life of  Harrison, with detailed genealogical information.  Included is an “Insert on the Ancestry of Presidents Harrison,” and a general history of the surname of Harrison.

Samuel Aaron Harrison was born at Hazelton, Texas County, Missouri, on 10 April 1842.  Probably he was related in some manner to William Henry Harrison and Benjamin Harrison, Presidents of the United States.

Null’s compilation includes several photographs and clippings concerning Samuel A. Harrison's long life.  In “A Brief History of Samuel Aaron Harrison, 1842-1940,” Null reviewed the major events.  A member of the Eighth Missouri Volunteers (Confederate), Harrison was captured and interned at the notorious Federal prisoner-of-war camp at Alton, Illinois.  In 1938 Harrison revisited the prison and selected a stone from its walls that later served as his tombstone.  Harrison died at his home in Anutt, Dent County, Missouri, on 30 August 1940, at the age of ninety-eight.

Most of the volume is devoted to an organized listing of Samuel A. Harrison’s many descendants, by family groups.
