This is a letter of 17 July 1907 from George Thom Smith, president of Dexter Christian College at Dexter in Stoddard County, Missouri, to the Anderson-Tully Lumber Company in Memphis, Tennessee.  The letter concerns a lost shipment of shooks.

Organized by the Christian Convention of Missouri, Dexter Christian College opened in about 1902 under the leadership of Albert Buxton.  George Thom Smith, Ph.D., appears to have been named president prior to the 1906-1907 academic year.

In October 1906 it appears that Smith had ordered some shooks from Anderson-Tully Lumber Company, perhaps for a barrel factory at Richland, Missouri.  The shooks were mistakenly shipped to Richmond, Missouri, and Smith had moved to Dexter to head the College.  This letter is an attempt to straighten out the misdirected shipment.
