These are the By-Laws
of Blendville Lodge No. 573, I.O.O.F., Joplin, Missouri, approved on 17 April 1922, and an Official Certificate of good standing for
member R. A. Barton, indicating all dues and fees were paid through 1 July 1926. Blendville
Lodge No. 573 was located at Joplin in Jasper County, Missouri.
Blendville Lodge No. 573 of the Independent Order of
Odd Fellows was instituted on 3 April 1899. It met on Monday
evenings. M. L. Peters was chairman of
the Committee on Laws of Subordinates, which presented the by-laws for approval
on 17
April 1922. This eight-page booklet includes by-laws
articles concerning meetings, fees and dues, benefits, appointed officers,
financial concerns, compensation of the secretary and the treasurer, degrees,
amendments, and the order of business.
The Official Certificate was issued by Blendville
Lodge on 10 May 1926 to R. A. Barton, indicating that his dues and assessments had been
paid through 1 July 1926. This official certificate
provided good standing for Barton at “all Lodges, Rebekah Lodges and
Encampments. The back of the certificate
also provides a “telegraphic cipher and key” for communicating with other
Lodges.
A small pin-back button with the IOOF symbol was
included with these items, and has been placed in the Information Folder.
