This is an illustrated booklet containing a centennial history of the First Baptist Church at Mountain View in Howell County, Missouri.  The congregation was founded as Mount Olivet Baptist Church in 1875.

 

Mount Olivet Baptist Church was organized at Mountain View in Howell County, Mis­souri, in 1875.  However, no records exist prior to reorganization in 1906.  The congregation changed the name to First Baptist Church of Mountain View in 1938.  The church belonged to the Union Baptist Association from its founding until 1913, when it joined the newly-organized How­ell County Baptist Association.

 

The Centennial History Committee compiled and published this 60-page booklet in 1975 to celebrate the centennial of the congregation’s founding.  It contains general historical information, a list of pastors (pages 11-12), and a section devoted to historical and contemporary photographs (pages 1a-16a).  An aerial color view of the contemporary church building, dedicated in August 1965, is on the cover of the booklet.
