This is a letter dated 16 June 1925 from C. M. Buford at Ellington in Reynolds County, Missouri, to James B. Armstrong at Mexico, Missouri.  The letter concerns possible land transactions in Reynolds County.

Carter Martin Buford was born in Reynolds County, Missouri, on 3 March 1876.  Trained in the law, he served in the Missouri State Senate from 1906 to 1920 and from 1926 to 1932.  During the legislative session of 1915 he served as President Pro Tem of the Senate.  He died in Reynolds County on 2 July 1959.

This letter was written between Buford’s terms in the Senate, while he was an attorney in Ellington.  According to his letterhead, he provided “special attention” to “abstracts and titles,” and offered “club sites, farm, timber and unimproved lands” to prospective buyers.  James B. Armstrong had recently purchased land in Reynolds County, and Buford was hopeful of selling him more.

The reverse side of Buford’s letterhead contains promotional descriptions of Reynolds County (“The Mecca of the Ozarks”) and its seat, Ellington.
