This is a daybook from the mercantile operation of A.
Buford & Son at Ellington in
Abraham Buford and his son, William C. Buford, were
the principals in the firm known as A. Buford & Son. Another son, James H. Buford, was also
involved in the family mercantile business that included retail and wholesale
operations in Reynolds, Shannon, and Carter counties in southeastern
Entries in the daybook are chronological, beginning on
20 April 1908 and continuing through 29 January 1909. The dates indicate that the daybook was once
part of the Buford & Son records microfilmed as WHMC-Rolla collection R688. The entries also bear the same type of numerical
references to account books that are no longer extant.
