This is a certificate for one share of stock in the Tri-State Exploration Company, which had offices at Springfield in Greene County, Missouri, and mineral leases on land in Lawrence County, Missouri.  The certificate was issued to L. M. Miller on 4 November 1927.

According to Articles of Association filed with the Missouri Secretary of State, the Tri-State Exploration Company, Inc., was organized on 19 September 1927 for a fifty-year term.  Capitalization was $200,000 distributed among 2000 shares of stock.  Although the firm’s business office was located at Springfield in Greene County, it held mineral leases on thirteen parcels of land in neighboring Lawrence County.  The principals of the firm were M. E. Blake and E. L. Dickinson of Stotts City and O. J. Page of Springfield.  Apparently the company’s efforts were unsuccessful, as it forfeited its charter on 1 January 1932 for failing to submit an annual registration to the Secretary of State’s office.

This is certificate number 6, for one share of stock (par value $100.00) issued to L. M. Miller on 4 November 1927.  The document is signed by E. L. Dickinson as president and M. E. Blake as secretary-treasurer.
