This is a certificate for four shares of stock in the Richwoods Mining Company, whose chief office was at Richwoods in Washington County, Missouri.  The certificate was issued to Harley Ballard on 30 August 1911.

 

According to documents filed with the Missouri Secretary of State, the Richwoods Mining Company was organized on 23 August 1906 with a capitalization of $100,000 divided among 10,000 shares of stock.  The principals were Edward W. Lape, Charles C. Jelleff, Charles W. Drake, William McMeekan, and John H. Fecker of Piqua in Miami County, Ohio; Douglas P. Moyer of Walled Lake in Oakland County, Michigan; Charles B. Wrout, Jesse M. Lillibridge, John Burkel, and Reinhold A. Norling of Aurora in Kane County, Illinois; Frank H. Moyer and Harris S. Moyer of Richwoods in Washington County, Missouri; and Charles L. Vandewater of the city of St. Louis, Missouri.  Frank H. Moyer owned 9988 shares in the firm, while each of the others owned one share each.  The company was issued state charter #20349 to engage in a “gen­eral mining business.”

 

This certificate number 636 for four shares was issued to Harley Ballard on 20 August 1911, and was signed by F. H. Moyer as Vice President and Acting President and Charles B. Wrout as Secretary.

 

On 2 December 1914 the company forfeited its charter due to failure to file an annual reg­istration with the Secretary of State.
