These are the Articles of Association and Order of Incorporation for the Dexter Cemetery Association, a “benevolent association” formed to establish and maintain a public cemetery at Dexter in Stoddard County, Missouri.  George N. Boughton was President.

 

George N. Boughton (President), Charles E. Stokes (Secretary), Albert H. Carter (Treas­urer), James P. Walker, Thomas J. Ulen, Solomon George Kitchen, Edward W. C. Weber, and Louis Heckel organized the Dexter Cemetery Association on 4 September 1885.  The Circuit Court of Stoddard County issued an Order of Incorporation on 17 September 1885, and it was filed for the record by Circuit Clerk C. H. Barham on 26 October 1885.  The purpose of the Asso­ciation was to establish and maintain a public cemetery in our near Dexter.
