This is “Douglas County in the of the Ozarks,” a promotional booklet prepared by the Douglas County Booster Club at Ava in Douglas County, Missouri.  The booklet is undated, but probably is from the early 1930s.

This small booklet promotes Douglas County as an ideal location, especially for “dairy and poultry.”  Ava, the county seat, is described as a town of 1500 on the Ozark Southern Railway, which connected to the St. Louis-San Francisco Railway at Mansfield, Missouri.  The Ozark Southern Railway Company was organized in 1919 and was dissolved by 1 January 1936, so a reference to Ava’s banks being prosperous while others were failing indicates a publication date in the early 1930s.

The only person named in the booklet is S. R. Wallen, a successful poultry farmer.  According to the Booster Club, tomatoes constitute the major cash crop, while lead and zinc ore “only awaits development.”
