This is a collection of historical and genealogical material concerning the Turley family. Included are copies of family papers, genealogical research, photographs, correspondence, and financial records of the Turley Family Historical Research Association.

The material in this collection was compiled mostly by Beth Mitchell, Ruth Collins, Patricia Lindgren, Lester Turley, and Gibson Turley, who were members of the Association, which was disbanded in 2005.  There are also draft copies of narratives written by various researchers, as well as galley proofs and a finished hard bound copy of the book, Turley Family Records, which was published by the Association in 1981.

The collection has been arranged into 200 folders filed in six boxes.  Box One contains records and correspondence of family members who emigrated from England and settled in Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, Indiana, Kentucky, Illinois, Missouri, and  North Carolina.  There are also copies of wills, Bible records, obituaries, and other vital records in this box.  Box Two is a continuation of the first, following the movements of Turley family members with research material from the British Isles to New Mexico.  It also includes copies of census records, land deeds and grants, family reunion materials, news articles, pedigree charts, and family group records. Box Two also includes copies of stories written by Lester F. Turley.  Box Three contains many copies of family photographs, tax lists, news clippings, military and court records, book orders, and research detailing Turley lines in Tennessee and West Virginia.  Box Four contains financial records of the Turley Family Historical Research Association, book orders, and mailing lists of members of the association.  Box Five includes correspondence, more financial records, and book reprint orders.  Box Six contains a set of galley proofs and a hard bound copy of the finished book.
