These are a brochure and a booklet published by the
Lake of the Ozarks Association, Inc., at
The Lake of the Ozarks Association worked with local
chambers of commerce, resort associations, and individual businesses to
promote tourism and trade in the area surrounding the Lake of the Ozarks,
including the cities of Camdenton,
The color brochure unfolds to about 3 feet by 2
feet. One side features a “bird’s-eye
view” illustration of the Lake of the Ozarks area, while the other side
includes schematic highway maps showing the locations of advertisers, mostly
resorts, restaurants, motels, and specialty stores. The brochure is undated, but it appears to be
from the late 1940s.
The 48-page booklet, which celebrates the “silver
anniversary” of the completion of Bagnell Dam in 1931, consists almost
entirely of advertisements for resorts, motels, restaurants, and other
businesses in Miller,
