This is a “premium list” and “program of events” for the third annual Carthage Fair and Horse Show, held at Carthage in Jasper County, Missouri, on 23-25 September 1948.  James M. Miller served as manager of the event.

 

Sponsored by the Carthage Chamber of Commerce and Junior Chamber of Commerce, the Carthage Fair and Horse Show was typical of “county fairs,” featuring agricultural exhibitions and a competitive horse show.  This 66-page booklet contains the detailed rules and regulations for the 11 “departments” of agricultural events, including mules, beef cattle, dairy cattle, sheep, poultry, produce, food preparation, and FFA and 4-H divisions.  The associated horse show included 20 “classes” of competition.  There are also many advertisements for area businesses.
