This is an illustrated booklet concerning “the new addition” to St. Francis Hospital at Cape Girardeau in Cape Girardeau County, Missouri.  Included are photographic views of new rooms and medical equipment, along with a brief history of the hospital.

St. Francis Hospital was founded and operated by the Franciscan sisters, an order of the Roman Catholic Church.  Beginning their work in Cape Girardeau in 1876, they erected a 75-bed hospital in 1914.  Construction for this 28-bed addition began on 1 June 1938.  It included a cloister for the sisters, and facilities for the physiotherapy, diathermy, basal metabolism, and orthopedic departments and two operating rooms.  This 12-page booklet includes photographic views of the new facilities.
