R McCamish, W. H.
1102 Letter, 1900.
One folder.
This is a letter dated 25 October 1900 from W. H.
McCamish, a lawyer in Kansas City, Kansas, to Charles H. Namendorf in St. Louis, Missouri. The letter concerns mineral properties in Oregon County, Missouri.
In this letter McCamish informs Namendorf that
McCamish holds a Deed of Trust on land in Oregon County
on which Namendorf also holds a claim.
According to McCamish, “There is zinc on this land and it is not a great
way from the new gold find.” McCamish
offers to sell the land to Namendorf in order to quiet the title, but he will
sell to another bidder if Namendorf declines.
Little is known about W. H. McCamish except his
address at the northeast corner of Seventh
Street and Minnesota Avenue in Kansas City, Kansas. In 1903 he corresponded with Edward L.
Bartlett of New Mexico
about another land transaction. These
papers are at the University
of New Mexico’s Center
for Southwest Research. Charles H.
Namendorf, who died in March 1944 at the age of 83, was the owner of a
successful umbrella manufacturing company in St. Louis.
