This is a souvenir booklet for the school year
1910-1911 for Colon Public School in Liberty
Township in Phelps County, Missouri. Charles E. Brown was the teacher and A. C.
Gabel was president of the district school board.
Colon Public School was in Phelps County School District Number 62. In 1910-1911 the school district’s officers
consisted of A. C. Gabel (President), John A. Mooney (Clerk), A. Nusz, and H.
Gabel. T. O. Renfrow was the County Superintendent
and Charles E. Brown was the teacher.
The students were Annie Gabel, George Gabel, Dollie Grayson, Susie
Grayson, Ida Grayson, Chester Arthur, Ollie Arthur, Susie Gabel, Julia Gabel,
Sarah Gabel, Madore Hines, Frank Gabel, Joseph Hines, Louise Hines, and Floid
David.
This small souvenir booklet includes the names of the
school’s instructor, pupils, and members of the local school board, along with
the poems, “Vacation Days” and “A Pioneer School House.”
