This is certificate number 20, dated 22 October 1908, for twenty shares of stock in the Armory Theatre Association at Aurora in Lawrence County, Missouri.  The shares were sold to N. B. Pearman, who also signed as secretary of the corporation, along with N. V. H. Walker, president.

According to Articles of Association filed with the Missouri Secretary of State, the Armory Theater (sic) Association (the stock certificate and corporate seal say “Theatre”) was organized on 14 October 1908 with a capitalization of $20,000 in 800 shares.  Of the sixteen original shareholders, N. B. Pearman held the most shares, 360, while E. J. Stribling held 200.  Directors of the firm were N. V. H. Walker, Robert W. Horine, N. B. Pearman, E. J. Stribling, T. H. Loy, Frank Ruppel, and J. B. Fleming.  The purpose of the Association was to own and operate places of amusement that would also “provide a public Hall for use of State Militia.”

The Association’s charter was declared forfeit by the Secretary of State on 2 December 1913 for reason of failure to file an annual registration.
