The General Assembly of Missouri incorporated the Cape Girardeau McAdamized and Plank Road Company by statute on 28 February 1851.  It was authorized to construct and operate a macadamized or plank road from Cape Girardeau through Jackson and Bollinger’s Mill to Mine La Motte in Madison County.  Only the section from Cape Girardeau to Bollinger Mill is known to have been built, but it remained in use until early in the twentieth century.
