This is a flyer dated 3 October 1914 by Myrtle Mitchener of Fairdealing, Missouri, who was the Republican candidate for Recorder of Ripley County.  The flyer includes a photographic portrait of Mitchener and her two young children.

 

Myrtle Mitchener was born in Illinois on 5 August 1881 and died at Springfield in Greene County, Missouri, on 15 December 1970.  According to the Ripley County Democrat (30 October 1914) she was a “young widow,” running against the Democratic incumbent, John W. Young.  The same newspaper reported that Young defeated Mitchener by a vote of 1214 to 911.

 

According to Mitchener’s flyer, she had lived in Missouri for eleven years and had a “common school education.  The flyer does not provide any political affiliation.
