                                    One folder, photocopies.

This is A Message to the Homeseeker, advertising the towns and principal businesses in Texas, Wright, and Webster counties in south-central Missouri.  The booklet contains brief descriptions of businesses and illustrations of commercial establishments and public buildings.

Neither an author nor a publisher is named for this 56-page promotional booklet, which is part of a series published in the 1920s and 1930s for several counties and communities in southern Missouri.  For other, similar, publications, see WHMC-Rolla collection R248 (St. Francois and Madison counties), collection R678 (Phelps and Dent counties), and collection R679 (Scott, Mississippi, Stoddard, Dunklin, and New Madrid counties).  This volume includes the towns of Cabool and Houston in Texas County, Hartville, Mansfield, Mountain Grove, and Norwood in Wright County, and Marshfield, Rogersville, Seymour, and Fordland in Webster County.

Each county and community has its own section [SEE the Shelf List.].  Introductory paragraphs describe the counties and towns in glowing terms, followed by individual listings of specific enterprises, which probably were sponsors of the booklet.  The text is illustrated by photographs of selected businesses and public buildings.  The businesses are described in “booster” terminology, but the descriptions also contain useful information about their proprietors, histories, services, and locations.
