This is a small “souvenir” booklet for the 1905-1906
school year at Oto Public School in northern Stone County, Missouri. Blanche O. Pritchard was the teacher and H.
B. Cox was president of the local school board.
Oto was a small community in Stone
County, about halfway between Crane
and Ponce De Leon and about five miles north of Galena.
Oto Ridge occupies the high ground between the James
River and Crane Creek. Oto
had a post office from 1877 until 1913.
Oto Public School enrolled 47 students in 1905-1906. The most common surnames were Anderson,
Curbow, and Parsons. A small
photographic portrait of teacher Blanche O. Pritchard is on the cover of the
booklet. The students are listed by
name, along with the members of the local school board: H. B. Cox (president),
J. H. Pritchard (clerk), J. Le Duc, and H. G. Parsons. In addition to the single page of names,
there are also three pages of inspirational poetry.
