R High Street
Baptist Church
(Springfield, Mo.).
1232 Yearbook, 1952.
One folder.
This is Youth
Trail 1952, a yearbook “published by
the young people of the High Street Baptist Church” at Springfield
in Greene County, Missouri. Included are photographic portraits,
snapshots, and general information about the congregation and its programs.
High Street Baptist Church was organized as the High Street Fundamental Baptist
Church on 19 April 1936 by the Rev. Charles W. Dyer. In 1941 the Rev. William E. Daniel was appointed
pastor. By June 1952 the congregation
had over 4,500 members and occupied a new auditorium adjacent to the original
church building at High and Prospect streets in northeast Springfield.
Later the congregation moved to an expanded campus adjacent to US-65
(Schoolcraft Freeway) near the Chestnut Expressway in Springfield.
This 152-page hard-bound book is similar to a
high-school annual, with many photographs of church youth and leadership. The volume is organized into thematic
sections, the major ones being “Youth” and “Church,” with many subsections,
including tributes to servicemen, lists of weddings, and memorial pages.
