1246                Booklet, 1902.

                                    One folder.

This is the “Ninth Annual Catalogue” of the Springfield Normal School and Business College at Springfield in Greene County, Missouri.  The presidents of the proprietary school were Allen Moore and John A. Taylor.  In addition to the normal and commercial courses the college included a conservatory of music and an “approved summer school.”

The Springfield Normal School and Business College was located at Pickwick Place on Cherry Street in eastern Springfield.  An illustration of the college building constitutes the frontispiece of this 48-page booklet for 1902-1903.  The catalog includes descriptions of the school and its courses, with the promise that its graduates were admitted to the University of Missouri “without examination.”  The faculty are listed on pages 2-3 and an enrollment roster can be found on pages 43 -48.  The school year began on 2 September 1902.

Upon the establishment of the State Normal School (now Missouri State University) at Springfield the normal section of the Springfield Normal School and Business College was closed and the school reorganized as the Springfield Business College at Jefferson and Walnut streets (See WHMC-Rolla collection R765.).
