These are miscellaneous records of the Himmelberger-Harrison Lumber Company and the Himmelberger-Harrison Manufacturing Company in southeastern Missouri. Included are abstracts of land records, ca. 1906-ca. 1921, and President John E. Himmelberger’s correspondence subject files for 1958.
The Himmelberger-Harrison Lumber Company was incorporated in 1902 by John H. Himmelberger and William H. Harrison of Cape Girardeau, Missouri. The company surrendered its charter and was dissolved by voluntary action in 1976. An affiliated firm, the Himmelberger-Harrison Manufacturing Company, maintained a furniture dimension factory at Morehouse in Stoddard County, Missouri.
These records consist of two major series: Thirty-four volumes of abstracts compiled from land records filed in courthouses in southeastern Missouri, ca. 1906 to ca. 1921, and 42 folders of general correspondence of company president John E. “Jack” Himmelberger in 1958. The latter files concern not only company business matters, but also personal activities and interests of Jack Himmelberger, such as the Boy Scouts, the Presbyterian Church, and political affairs.
